AGENDA ITEM NO: 1. To Felicitate Dr. Iqbal Singh Lalpura Ji on conferment of D.Litt. Degree by Guru Kashi University, Talwandi Sabo (Bathinda), Punjab in the convocation held on October 27, 2023 at the University Campus.

The present members congratulated Dr. Iqbal Singh Lalpura Ji on being conferred the degree of D.Litt. by Guru Kashi University, Talwandi Sabo (Bathinda), Punjab on October 27, 2023. The members highlighted the role played by Dr. Lalpura in Administration, Social Service, Political life and in the spreading the message of the Sikh Gurus. His services were recognised by SGPC and Shri. Akal Takht Sahib which conferred Shiromani Sahitkar Award to him. The house unanimously passed a resolution to thank the Guru Kashi University for bestowing this honour to Dr. Lalpura Ji and consequently to GPA.

AGENDA ITEM NO: 4. To discuss membership drive by local committee Delhi – NCR and proposal for establishing Punjabi Bhavan of GPA in New Delhi (Report by Sh. Yash Garg Ji)

Sh. Yash Garg ji (Chartered Accountant) and Sh. Osho ji apprised the house about the membership drive. The proposal of establishing the Punjabi Bhavan of GPA at New Delhi was discussed and unanimously approved. It was decided to prepare a proposal and submit it to Govt. of India through Dr. Iqbal Singh Lalpura Ji, Chairman National Commission for Minorites, Govt. of India. The members unanimously appreciated the establishment of Punjabi Bhavan.

AGENDA ITEM NO: 5. To make a request to department of Archaeological Survey, Govt. of India to preserve Mubarik Manzil Mahal of Late. Nawab Sher Mohammad Khan of Malerkotla and to preserve the precious historic belongings of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

Malerkotla, a Muslim majority state was established in 1454 by Sheikh Sadruddin-i-Jahan from Afghanistan, and was ruled by his Sherwani descendants. In 1657 Bayazid Khan, descendant of Haider Shiekh and father of most well-known of the Malerkotla Nawab’s Sher Mohammad Khan, after saving the life of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb in a tiger attack was granted the privilege to build a fort, which he named Malerkotla and eventually gave its name to the state. The roots of communal harmony dates back to 1705, when Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh 9 and 7 year old sons of tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, were ordered to be bricked alive by the governor of Sirhind Wazir Khan. While his close relative, Sher Mohammed Khan, Nawab of Malerkotla, who was present in the court, lodged a vehement protest against this act and said it was against the tenets of the Quran and Islam. Wazir Khan nevertheless had the boys bricked into a section of wall whilst still alive. At this, the Nawab of Malerkotla walked out of the court in protest. Guru Gobind Singh on learning of this approach had blessed the Nawab and the people of Malerkotla that the city will live in the peace and happiness. Nawab Sher Mohammad Khan wrote a letter to Aurangzeb in Persian:

ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਿਬਜ਼ਾਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੀਵਾਰਾਂ ’ਚ ਚਿਣੇ ਜਾਣ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਨਵਾਬ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਮੁਹੰਮਦ ਖ਼ਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਔਰੰਗਜ਼ੇਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਪੱਤਰ (ਇਹ ਪੱਤਰ ਫ਼ਾਰਸੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਅਨੁਵਾਦ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ)

ਐ ਆਲਮ ਪਨਾਹ! ਜ਼ਮਾਨੇ ਦੇ ਅਜ਼ੀਮ ਰੁਤਬਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਹੋ ਹਸ਼ਮਤ ਵਾਲੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਨਸ਼ਾਹ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸੱਤ ਅਸਮਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਹਕੂਮਤ ਨਸੀਬ ਫ਼ਰਮਾਵੇ, ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਜਾਹੋ ਜਲਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿਣ ਨਾ ਲੱਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਫ਼ਤਹਿ ਤੇ ਕਾਮਰਾਨੀ ਦੇ ਚੰਨ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਕਾਇਨਾਤ ਉੱਤੇ ਜਗਮਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਰਹਿਣ। ਮੈਂ ਨਿਮਾਣਾ ਦਾਸ ਉਸ ਸੁਹਣੇ ਰੱਬ ਅੱਗੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਅਦਬ, ਅਹਿਤਰਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਰ ਨਿਵਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਦੁਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ (ਰੱਬ) ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਛਤਰ ਛਾਇਆ ਹੇਠ ਮਹਿਫ਼ੂਜ਼ ਰੱਖੇ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਾਇਨਾਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਆਗ਼ੋਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਜਾਨ ਦੀ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਹਿਫ਼ਾਜ਼ਤ ਫ਼ਰਮਾਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਰਹਿਮਾਨ ਤੇ ਰਹੀਮ ਹੈ। ਉਸੇ ਮੁਕੱਦਸ ਤੇ ਸਰਵ ਉੱਚ ਰੱਬ ਅਤੇ ਰਹਿਮਾਨ ਤੇ ਰਹੀਮ ਦਾ ਵਾਸਤਾ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਕਬਜ਼ੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਾਇਨਾਤ ਦੀ ਜਾਨ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਦਾਸ ਆਪ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ’ਚ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਕਿੰਨਾ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਜੇਕਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ (ਦਸਵੇਂ ਗੁਰੂ) ਦੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਫ਼ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ।

ਆਲੀਜਾਹ! ਕੀ ਸੂਬੇਦਾਰ ਸਰਹਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦਾ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀਆਂ ਹੁਕਮ ਅਦੂਲੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਾਸੂਮ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਵੇ? ਕੇਵਲ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ

ਜ਼ਿੰਦਾ ਦੀਵਾਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਚਿਣਵਾ ਦੇਵੇ, ਇੱਥੋਂ ਤੀਕ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਾਨ ਤੋਂ ਹੱਥ ਧੋ ਬੈਠਣ।

ਆਲਮ ਪਨਾਹ! ਭਾਵੇਂ ਸੂਬੇਦਾਰ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੌਸਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਮੌਤ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਟੱਲ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਇਹ ਖ਼ਾਦਿਮ ਅਤੇ ਖ਼ੈਰ ਖ਼ੁਆਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਨਾਪਾਕ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਦੂਰ ਅੰਦੇਸ਼ੀ ਵਾਲੇ ਫ਼ੈਸਲੇ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਲਤਨਤ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਨਿਮਾਣਾ ਖ਼ਾਦਿਮ ਅਤੇ ਬਹੀ ਖ਼ੁਆਹ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਨਾਤੇ ਆਂ-ਜਨਾਬ ਦੀ ਸਲਤਨਤ ਦੀ ਖ਼ੈਰ ਖ਼ੁਆਹੀ ਲਈ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਹਾਲਾਤ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੱਖ ਰੱਖਦਿਆਂ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਮ ਦੀ ਹੁਕਮ ਅਦੂਲੀ ’ਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਮੁਨਾਸਬ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਤਜਵੀਜ਼ ਫ਼ਰਮਾਉਣ। ਇਨਸਾਫ਼ ਵੀ ਇਸੇ ਗੱਲ ਦਾ ਤਕਾਜ਼ਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਇਸ ਨਿਮਾਣੇ ਖ਼ਾਦਿਮ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਿਆਲ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵੀ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਤਾਕਤ ਤੇ ਹਕੂਮਤ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਾਯਾਨੇ ਸ਼ਾਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਕੌਮ ਦੀ ਹੁਕਮ ਅਦੂਲੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਬਦਲਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਾਸੂਮ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਲਿਆ ਜਾਵੇ। ਅਜਿਹੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਮਾਸੂਮ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਨਾਜ਼ੁਕ ਅਤੇ ਕਮਸਿਨ ਵੀ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਕਿਸੇ ਸੂਰਤ ’ਚ ਵੀ ਇੱਕ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਅਤੇ ਤਾਕਤਵਰ ਸੂਬੇਦਾਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਬੇਪਨਾਹ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ। ਇਹ ਹਰਕਤ ਸਪੱਸ਼ਟ ਤੌਰ ’ਤੇ ਹਜ਼ਰਤ ਮੁਹੰਮਦ (ਸ.) ਜੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਿੱਖਿਆਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਲਾਮੀ ਅਸੂਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਿਲਾਫ਼ ਹੈ।

ਜ਼ਿੱਲੇ ਸੁਬਹਾਨੀ! ਜਹਾਂ ਪਨਾਹ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਨਿਮਾਣੇ ਖ਼ਾਦਿਮ ਨੂੰ ਡਰ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸੂਬੇਦਾਰ ਸਰਹਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਗ਼ੈਰ ਇਸਲਾਮੀ ਅਤੇ ਗ਼ੈਰ ਇਨਸਾਨੀ ਕਦਮ ਕਿਤੇ ਆਲਮ ਪਨਾਹ ਦੇ ਜਾਹੋ ਜਲਾਲ, ਸ਼ਾਨੋ ਸ਼ੌਕਤ, ਇੱਜ਼ਤੋ ਵਕਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਇਨਸਾਫ਼ ਤੇ ਸੱਚਾਈ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਧੱਬਾ ਨਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਵੇ। ਉਂਜ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੀ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਅਤੇ ਅਜ਼ੀਅਤ ਦਾ ਆਪ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਹਕੂਮਤ ਦੇ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਅਤੇ ਹੱਕ ਤੇ ਇਨਸਾਫ਼ ਦੇ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਉਲਟ ਹੈ। ਉਪਰੋਕਤ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰਿਸ਼ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਚਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਦਾ ਇਸਤੇਮਾਲ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਦਾਸ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜੇਕਰ ਜਹਾਂ ਪਨਾਹ ਦੇ ਮਿਜ਼ਾਜ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਕੂਲ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਾਸਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਅਗਾਂਹ ਲਈ ਅਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਸਰਗਰਮੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਜ਼ ਰਹਿਣ ਜੋ ਹਜ਼ੂਰ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਮੁਨਾਸਿਬ ਲੱਗਦੀਆਂ ਹੋਣ। ਇਹ ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਮੁਨਾਸਿਬ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਜੇਕਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਜਧਾਨੀ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਜਾਵੇ ਇੱਥੋਂ ਤਕ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਬਦੀਲੀ ਨਾ ਆ ਜਾਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਤਖ਼ਤ ਦੀ ਆਗਿਆਕਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਵਫ਼ਾਦਾਰੀ ਕਬੂਲ ਨਾ ਕਰ ਲੈਣ। ਜੇਕਰ ਜ਼ਿੱਲੇ ਇਲਾਹੀ ਮੁਨਾਸਿਬ ਖ਼ਿਆਲ ਫ਼ਰਮਾਉਣ ਤਾਂ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਇਸ ਅਦਨਾ ਗ਼ੁਲਾਮ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਰਾਨੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੇਣ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਵੀ ਫ਼ਰਮਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਰਹੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰੇਕ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਰਗਰਮੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਜ਼ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ।

ਜ਼ਿੱਲੇ ਸੁਬਹਾਨੀ! ਨਿਮਾਣੇ ਖ਼ਾਦਿਮ ਨੂੰ ਡਰ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜਜ਼ਬਾਤ ਅਤੇ ਵਫ਼ਾਦਾਰੀ ’ਚ ਡੁੱਬੀ ਹੋਈ ਇਹ ਲਿਖਤ ਕਿਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਆਦਾਬ ਦੇ ਬੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਪਾਰ ਨਾ ਕਰ ਗਈ ਹੋਵੇ, ਪਰ ਰੱਬੀ ਖ਼ੌਫ਼ ਅਤੇ ਆਲਾ ਹਜ਼ਰਤ ਨਾਲ ਵਫ਼ਾਦਾਰੀ ਦਾ ਤਕਾਜ਼ਾ ਦਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦੀ ਇਜਾਜ਼ਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਹੱਕ ਗੱਲ ਕਹਿਣ ਤੋਂ ਗੁਰੇਜ਼ ਕਰਾਂ। ਮੇਰੇ ਨਿਮਾਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਦੀ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰਿਸ਼ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਫੁੱਲ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਏ ਗਏ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਖ਼ੁਦ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਮਾਨੇ ਦਾ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ਕਿਸਮਤ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਸਮਝਾਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਜੇਕਰ ਦਾਸ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਇਲਤਿਜਾ ਤਬੀਅਤ ਉੱਤੇ ਗਰਾਂ (ਭਾਰੀ) ਗੁਜ਼ਰੇ ਤਾਂ ਬੰਦਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਫ਼ਰਜ਼ ਨਿਭਾਉਂਦਿਆਂ ਹੱਕ ’ਤੇ ਇਨਸਾਫ਼ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਿੱਜੀ ਵਿਚਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਜ਼ਹਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਸੱਚ ਦੀ ਰਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਕਦਮ ਕਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਟੇਗਾ।

ਨਵਾਬ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਮੁਹੰਮਦ ਖ਼ਾਂ ਮਾਲੇਰਕੋਟਲਾ

According to a historians, in 1705, the court of Subedar of Sirhind, Wazir Khan, had ordered the execution of Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh, younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, and Nawab Sher Mohammad Khan had raised the voice against it.

Guru Gobind Singh had also honoured Nawab by presenting him with a sword and for raising his voice in the support of his sons.

Dr Mohammad Idris, a professor of history department of Punjabi University, said, “Nawab Sher Mohammad Khan has a significant contribution in Sikh and Punjab history as he had written ‘Murasala,’ a communiqué to then Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. This was considered a courageous and rebellious step as Malerkotla was a small princely state in the Mughal Empire. Malerkotla was the state of just 32 villages.

Nawab Muhammad Iftikhar ‘Ali Khan Bahadur, last Nawab of Malerkotla (20th May 1904 – 20 November 1982) was born at Malerkotla. He was eldest son of Nawab Muhammad Ahmad ‘Ali Khan Bahadur, Nawab of Malerkotla. He had four wives; Begum Zubaida, Begum Yusuf Zamani, Begum Munawar-un-Nisa and Begum Sajida. He had no issue from any of the four wives. Begum Munawwar-ul-Nisa, last heir of Malerkotla’s Nawab Sher Mohammad Khan (18^th generation descendant) died at the age of 103 years here on October 27, 2023 at a private hospital in Malerkotla. The last wish of the Begum Munawar-ul-nisa was to see Mubarik Manzil Mahal in its pristine glory and preserve the precious historical gifts of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

The house unanimously resolved to pass a resolution and submit the same to Archaeological Survey of India for preserving the historic Mubarik Manzil Mahal as a National Monument and convert it into a museum of Harmony and Peace. 

AGENDA ITEM NO: 6. Events in the pipeline:

It was unanimously decided to organize following events:

1. a) National Seminar on Role of National Minorities Commission in Integrating the Nation by Punjab University, Chandigarh on Tuesday, November 07, 2023 (Coordinator Dr. (Mrs.) Simrit Kahlon, Dean Student Welfare, Punjab University, Chandigarh)
2. b) To celebrate Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Parkash Purab on Monday November 27, 2023 at 95 – Lodhi Estate, New Delhi. (Coordinator S. Ajayvir Singh Lalpura)
3. c) To celebrate Veer Bal Diwas on Tuesday December 26, 2023 (Venue to be decided in the next meeting.)
4. d) To organise Interfaith Harmony March at New Delhi in the first week of February, 2024 (World Interfaith Harmony Week. This Event will be observed during the first week of February, 2024 and details will be finalized in the next meeting)

AGENDA ITEM NO: 7. Miscellaneous if any with the permission of the chair.

With the permission of the chair, the following decisions were taken unanimously:

1. In future online meetings will be held on Google Meet, on the last date of every month from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
2. The GPA will meet the target of enrolling 300 Life Member by the end of March, 2024.

• The GPA will appoint/nominate 5 Patrons from its Life Members to regulate/monitor its activities.

1. The GPA will render thanks to Shri. Narendra Modi Ji, Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bharat for providing relief to the riots victims of 1984 and for expediting the legal process to punish the guilty of riots.
2. Guru Kashi University will organize a seminar on ‘The turban is the not a symbol of terrorism’ (ਪਗੜੀ ਅੱਤਵਾਦ ਦਾ ਪਰਤੀਕ ਨਹੀਂ)
